Our response to Covid-19
As soon as the effects of Covid-19 became apparent we followed guidelines and
cancelled much of our upcoming events programme. Although this decision was
taken out of our hands, and we continue to observe Government advice, we
would like to reassure you that we are ready to spring into action and rearrange
as many events as possible as quickly as we can. We will update information on
this website and on our social media sites as the situation changes.
The Textile Society is in a fortunate position in that we can continue to operate
many of our usual activities. This is because all committee members are multi-
talented, hard-working volunteers, who are used to working at home and
communicating electronically. This is a huge advantage during the current crisis,
when meeting face to face has become difficult. And, importantly, we don’t have
premises to maintain. As a result, many of our usual activities, such as our vital
News publication for members, and our greatly valued Awards and Bursaries
scheme, are continuing to function as usual. The awards are an important
element of our charitable status and we aim to maintain them for as long as
possible.
