A curator’s talk exclusively for Textile Society delegates with Mary Schoeser, Textile Society Honorary Member and eminent historian.
The exhibition Textiles: The Art of Mankind, curated by Textile Society Honorary Member Mary Schoeser, celebrates the ancient and deep entanglement between textiles, people and our world. Through the beauty of textiles, you will encounter human ingenuity that can be traced from pre-history to our digital age.
Eminent textile historian Mary Schoeser is providing a curator’s talk exclusively for Textile Society delegates on the afternoon of Monday 16 June 2025.
Textiles reveal the human desire to engage with texture and colour, record histories, thoughts and feelings, and preserve skills to hand down to generations. Across the globe, they carry sacred significance, express our cultural regard for animals, while others symbolise life’s mysteries.
We look forward to welcoming you to this evocative exhibition exploring the identities, meanings and ideas captured in textiles. Join this exclusive Textile Society event and benefit from special access on a day when the museum is closed to the general public.
