London Transport Museum has recently uncovered fascinating stories behind the commissioning, design, manufacturing and use of moquette through the ages. Curator Georgia Morley will talk about her research on moquette which was used in the Museum’s recently published book Seats of London.
We will be shown the designs of Enid Marx (above), Marianne Straub, Paul Nash and Marion Dorn. Wallace Sewell the current designers for moquette on the Underground, Overground, Croydon Tram and Elizabeth line will talk about their work for TfL, the briefs, inspiration and design processes. Depot Manager, Keith Raeburn will give a short tour of the bus and rail shed, showing us some moquette designs on vehicles.
