Archive Award Winners Announced
The John Horrocks Collection at Lancashire Archives and Glasgow School of Art Archives share the Textile Society's Audrey Archive Award, was given in in memory of Audrey Duck, who died in 2013. Audrey was, for many years, archivist at G, P and J Baker and the award reflects her professional interest in archives
Two Award winners both received £1,250
The John Horrocks Collection at Lancashire Archives Preston, which contains thousands of items dating from the late 18th century to 1960s. This includes pattern books, financial records, photographs and international trade correspondence. The award will greatly improve the access to information on line.
Glasgow School of Art Archives and Collections for the digitisation and cataloguing of ‘The Cloth and Fraser Taylor Archive’. This was accessioned just weeks before a fire engulfed the Mackintosh Building at Glasgow School of Art, where the collection was located. The Collection, including fabric lengths, samples, garments, drawings and promotional material suffered which damage and will undergo conservation in 2015. This highlighted the importance of digital records and online availability to enhance access.
